NEW YORK FASHION WEEK : ROCK & REPUBLIC
Friday, October 17, 2008
Rock & Republic brought hemlines up and necklines down for their monochromatic Spring/Summer '09 show at New York Fashion Week. Everything from acid washed skinny jeans to flowing chiffon maxi dresses was void of hue, but oozing sex appeal. The collection focused on sharp contrast, simple prints, and draped detailing, making good use of shimmery, stretchy synthetics for tops, leggings, blouses, and mini dress after mini dress. The menswear took the chromophobic rock'n'roll theme to heart, pairing skinny jeans with even skinnier ties, slim button downs, blazers, and motorcycle jackets. In fact, the men's denim has become so slim that one has to wonder if they'll start referring to them as the "girlfriend" jean. Overall, this season's collection is on trend and fit for rock royalty.
